Doctor of Optometry

Born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Dr. Lee has always had an interest in healthcare and helping others. She earned her undergraduate degree from Indiana University, where she studied Psychology and Biology. She went on to complete her Doctor of Optometry degree at Indiana University School of Optometry.

Following optometry school, Dr. Lee pursued advanced training through a residency in ocular disease at the Fort Wayne VA Hospital, where she gained extensive experience in diagnosing and managing complex eye conditions.

Outside the office, Dr. Lee enjoys spending time with her husband, Andrew, and their large extended families—including many beloved nieces and nephews.

1. What inspired you to pursue a career in eye care?
I have always known that I wanted to work in health care in some capacity, but it was a combination of personal experiences and academic exploration that ultimately led me to optometry. Annual visits to the eye doctor as a child initially sparked my interest. Later, during my undergraduate studies, I explored a variety of health care fields. I specifically remember a psychology class that briefly covered the visual system—something about that lesson just clicked. Immediately after class, I called my mom and told her I thought optometry would be a perfect fit.

2. What’s one aspect of patient care that you particularly enjoy?
What I find most rewarding about patient care is the ability to provide patients with a clear physiologic or anatomic explanation for their symptoms or concerns. I believe that when individuals understand the underlying cause of a visual issue or symptom, it often brings a great sense of relief—especially when they realize that what they are experiencing is completely normal. Offering that clarity and reassurance is one of the most fulfilling aspects of my work.

3. What’s something interesting or surprising about you that your patients might enjoy knowing?
I come from a large and ever-growing family. I am the youngest of six daughters—no brothers—and I currently have 16 nieces and nephews, with more on the way. Family gatherings are lively, chaotic, and always full of laughter.
